T.I. and Tiny are set to host a benefit luncheon for the Alzheimers charity “For the Love of Our Fathers” this October.
This October 3 in Atlanta, T.I. and wife Tameka – also known as Tiny – will be hosting a luncheon for honorees of their “For the Love of Our Fathers” foundation, a charity that addresses the issue of the increased rate of Alzheimer’s in the African American community and the decreased rate of victims receiving proper treatment.
For Tip and Tiny, this luncheon carries a greater significance. Tameka’s father – a founding member of the R&B group the Tams – is currently suffering the effects of the crippling disease, while T.I.’s father passed away as a result of it.
“The name comes from the fact that my father Charles Pope suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and Clifford’s father, Clifford Harris, Sr., died from it,” Tiny explained.
The honorees at this luncheon will include Dr. Patrick A. Griffith, a member of the Division of Neurology Chief at Morehouse School of Medicine and the Community Alzheimer’s Advocate Tena S. Walker, with Walker and Sister 2 Sister Magazine editor Jamie Foster Brown providing speeches. Xscape, The OMG Girlz and QT Jazz Guests will also be in attendance for performances, and guests are also being asked to donate at least $100 to the organization.
“Having to deal with a loved one who suffers from this disease made it hard for me and my family, so we formed this foundation to help others that are in the same situation,” said Tameka. “Support is what’s needed to make this world a better place…aur foundation is based on the belief that everyone’s needs are of the utmost importance.”
