Swizzy has been tapped by the Knickerbockers to put a new spin on an old song.
“Go NY Go” has been the Knicks’ theme song for years. But the team is looking to give the old tune a modern makeover. To do so they’ve enlisted on of Hip Hop’s hottest producers, Swizz Beatz, a native New Yorker. Swizz’s revamped version of the song is set to premiere during this year’s playoffs.
Speaking to XXL a rep for the beat maker had this to say,
“[Swizz] is from from the Bronx. [The Knicks] always try to get people that have that connection; people who they feel could really pay homage ’cause they represent that culture. Plus, [with] the new sizzle that they have with Carmelo [Anthony] and Amare [Stoudemire], they want to give people an updated but still vintage song that reflects the old [song]. It’s just a lil’ more spicy.”
But Swizz isn’t the only one looking to give the Knicks a little musical inspiration as they head into the playoffs. Last week, Sha Stimuli and Rhythm J reunited to release the “We Win (NY Knicks Anthem).”
