Jay-Z’s new agency, Roc Nation Sports, is already bringing the checks in for it’s new signees.
Just last week, it was revealed that the full-service management company snagged a multi-million dollar Pepsi deal for New York Yankees Robinson Cano, and now Skylar Diggins is getting a piece of the endorsement pie too.
Just two months after officially signing her deal, the 22-year-old WNBA star has become the new spokesperson for Nike Air Force 1 Downtown. Last night, she took to Instagram to give a glimpse of the sneaker’s new ad campaign, which she captioned:
Upping my style game with #AF1. See you soon Chicago! #wincity
Jay Z is definitely at work and a few sports agents are beyond mad.
During an interview with The Breakfast Club last month, he said of the criticism he received after jumping into the sports management space:
I do this because it’s an extension of the bigger goal. The bigger goal is for all athletes to get their just due. Not to get half-ass agents or people who rob them or people that don’t care about their finances. They don’t even care about them and that’s why those guys go broke in four years. It’s like a shame; the average is three to four years. We’re talking about guys who is signing for $90 million, $86 million are broke in four years. That’s terrible money management!
These guys don’t care! They’re just taking whatever is going to get them a check and they’re not even worried about all that. We’re doing all of that. We’re almost like a better money management firm and then (sports) agency.
Sounds like a good sell for potential Roc Nation Sports signees but only time will tell.
