HHUCIT’s [Rating:3.5]
Drake begins the month of February with fresh new music. Every major bog has had their own opinion of it, so what do the Hip Hop U-C-IT readers think about it? It is an inspirational piece for many. Listeners have been a fan of his very candid bars time and time again. Started From The Bottom is a self-explanatory title. Drake worked his way through frustrations and dedicated persistence to receive all of what he has. There will most likely never be a Media Takeout moment revealing some deep, dark secret about him because he tells the audience about his life simplistically, rather than through suspicious, overly metaphorical verses. Drake sends the message that no matter the struggle, with enough belief in yourself and your talents, the sky is the stepping stone to a successful future. The positivity is felt in the hearts of those striving to get to where they want to be so they can recite the lyrics, “started from the bottom, now we’re here…”
The beat is something different but Drake has always been a risk taker. It is a very spunky, yet tranquil production. He is maturing right in front of the eyes of the media. He relishes in his success and has no problem flaunting the much deserved fame. Drake has the talent and skill to be an even bigger star for many years to come and what better way to spend your 20s? As one of the top contenders in Hip Hop, Drake’s new album is highly anticipated to be the album of the year. One thing the listeners are able to tell if you pay attention is that Drake doesn’t rush though his songs. It’s simple, effortless talent. We heard him paying it forward to new artist on the block, A$AP Rocky on his debut single, “F**king Problems” alongside Rookie of The Year 2012, Kendrick Lamar and Atlanta bred- 2 Chainz, but it’s the new project people are dying to hear. Make that sooner than later, Drake!
