Nicki Minaj is back in the lab. After judging “American Idol” and filming her first movie, the rap diva has returned to doing what she loves most, music.
She is currently working on the follow-up to 2012’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.
“That’s actually what I’m doing right now, beginning the third album and that will be out in 2014,” Nicki told E! Online while promoting her new fragrance Minajesty.
While she doesn’t miss her time on “Idol,” she has no regrets.
“It was such a great experience. I would not trade it for the world,” she said. “But my heart is in my music and I had to step back and go have different experiences so that I could write my third album… That’s the most important thing in my life right now.”
She was recently photographed in the studio with Miley Cyrus and Mike WiLL Made It, prompting speculation of a collaboration. However, they didn’t end up cutting any records.
“I didn’t make any music with Miley,” she said. “There was a song that was a possibility but it didn’t work out.”
She is also set to make her acting debut opposite Cameron Diaz and Kate Upton in the upcoming comedy The Other Woman. While she was nervous at first, Diaz eased her fears.
“She came up to me in the middle of the day and was like, ‘You’re doing such a great job,’” she said. “That melted me… And that pushed me. She was like, ‘You’re making really great choices.’”
On Friday, she will appear on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and premiere the David LaChapelle-directed commercial for Minajesty.
