From the Bay to L.A., Kendrick Lamar, Crooked I, and Kobe Honeycutt team up with Mistah F.A.B. on the introspective street banger “Survive.”

Compton’s K-Dot kicks off the track with insightful bars about his upbringing before Oakland’s F.A.B. provides “truth in its essence,” and Long Beach’s Crook delivers a somber rhyme about drugs and an attempted suicide. Meanwhile, Chicago’s Kobe is there to brings it all together with a melodic hook about resilience.

The song is a new release off F.A.B.’s upcoming Son of a Pimp 2 project, due May 27, but the Bay Area spitter’s had it in the can for some time.

“I reached out to Kendrick about a year ago like, ‘Yo Cousin, I need you on this record,’” he told Rolling Stone. “He said it was no problem and got it to me the next day. Kendrick is hella talented. I just love that the world is embracing him the way that he is because he’s been a star, it’s just that it took a long time for the world to see it. TDE [Top Dawg Entertainment] has such a great situation in how they play off each other and support each other.”

Son of a Pimp 2 also boasts appearances from Snoop Dogg, Too $hort, E-40, Jadakiss, ScHoolboy Q, Lupe Fiasco, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, and Keyshia Cole, among others.
