Before The Lion King roars into theaters next week, the soundtrack arrives today featuring music from its stars, Beyoncé and Donald Glover.
The powerhouse duo teams up to cover “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” a remake of Elton John’s classic ballad from the original 1994 film. The new version was produced by Hans Zimmer, Jon Favreau, Pharrell Williams, and Stephen Lipson, and also features vocals from Billy Eichner (Timon) and Seth Rogen (Pumbaa).
“Can you feel the love tonight / The peace the evening brings / The world for once in perfect harmony / With all its living things,” they sing on the nostalgic duet.
Earlier this week, Beyoncé dropped her new song “Spirit,” which also appears on the soundtrack, along with contributions from Elton John and the film’s cast.
Additionally, Beyoncé has produced and curated a musical ode to the film, The Lion King: The Gift, which arrives next Friday (July 19) featuring music from her favorite artists as well as today’s top African acts.
Queen Bey voices Nala and Glover takes on the role of Simba in Jon Favreau’s live-action reboot of The Lion King, which hits theaters July 19.
