Nelly headlined RoverFest 2013 in Cleveland on Saturday, but it was a special guest that made the headlines. Kidnap victim Amanda Berry, one of three women held captive in a Cleveland home for a decade, made her first public appearance during the concert on Saturday.
Following an introduction from radio host Shane French, Nelly brought Berry and her family onstage while he performed “Just a Dream.”
“That’s how you tell the pulse of a city by the people that live there,” said the St. Louis rapper. “Since they up here right now, I want to make sure that we get a chance to thank you because I know it’s a long time and I can’t even imagine the type of strength and the type of courage that it took to keep it going.”
Wearing sunglasses, jeans, and a black T-shirt, Berry smiled and sang along during Nelly’s set.
Her appearance comes a day after her abductor pleaded guilty to kidnap and rape charges.
