Superman can leave his blue and red spandex at home.
That’s because the Superman from Zack Snyder’s reboot, “Man of Steel,” coming in the summer of 2013, is a gritty, bearded silent type who isn’t sure if he belongs in the world of humans, or if humans can accept someone like him.
In the first full trailer for the film a young Clark Kent saves a bus full of children but is scolded by his adopted father for revealing his powers.
The dejected young Superman asks,
“What was I supposed to do, just let ’em die?”
“Maybe,” is what Kevin Costner, playing Jonathan Kent, replies.
Such moral quandaries are to be expected in any Christopher Nolan production, he also helped write the screenplay, as is the grimy look that he perfected in his recent “Batman” trilogy.
Fans will also appreciate their first look at Michael Shannon playing General Zod.
