Miley Cyrus is making a bang on the Billboard charts. Following a whirlwind of controversy, the pop star debuts at No. 1 this week with her album Bangerz.
Led by the No. 1 single “Wrecking Ball,” the album sold 270,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It marks her fifth No. 1 album including her soundtracks as Disney’s Hannah Montana.
Pusha T also makes his entry this week at No. 4 with his solo debut My Name Is My Name, which sold 75,000 copies. He previously peaked at No. 4 with the Clipse’s 2002 album Lord Willin’.
The G.O.O.D. Music MC thanked his fans for their support.
“The streets have spoken! The connoisseurs of fine rhyme have spoken!” he wrote on Instagram. “74,610 of u supported my album without any trillion dollar marketing plan, radio play, or record label magic tricks. I owe my successes to each and everyone of u.”
Last week’s chart-topper, Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2, falls to No. 5 with 70,000 sold, marking an 80% decline from its opening week.
Drake’s Nothing Was the Same slides 2-3 with 83,000 in its third week (down 44%), while Lorde’s Pure Heroine drops to No. 6 with 63,000 (down 51%).
