Ironically one year after fellow Destiny’s Child diva Kelly Rowland parted ways with longtime manager/mentor Mathew Knowles, ‘We Break The Dawn” singer Michelle Williams has decided to follow suit.
Issuing a statement late Tuesday, Williams, who is now preparing for a stint on Broadway in ‘Chicago,’ cited movement in a new direction as reason for the split, which also includes parting ways with Music World Entertainment.
“I have decided to part ways from my management team, Mathew Knowles and Music World Entertainment. From my time in Destiny’s Child to my solo career, I am grateful for everything Mathew and his team has done for me. We’ve shared great success together. However, as I move in a new direction in my career, I felt it was time,” Williams wrote in a statement first distributed via BV Buzz.com. “I wish Mathew Knowles and the Music World Entertainment family all the best.”
While Williams has not disclosed future plans beyond ‘Chicago,’ the singer has enjoyed a number of hosting and judging stints on reality television related projects. Among her credits, MTV’s Top Pop Group and the Gospel MusicChannel’s Gospel Dream.
Williams’ departure leaves Beyonce as the sole remaining member of Destiny’s Child under Mathew Knowles, who also manages the careers of R&B and Gospel acts including Trin-i-tee 5:7 and Brian Courtney Wilson.
