Justin Bieber is pushing the boundaries with some help from Kanye West. The teen sensation praised Yeezy for his creativity and helping him evolve his sound on his upcoming album Believe.
The two were recently photographed in the lab working on new music.
“Just being in the studio with him, he’s just so creative and everything he says he means it and he’s really smart,”
The 18-year-old pop superstar told MTV News.
“It’s always great to get in the studio with those types of people.”
Kanye, who previously collaborated with Justin on the remix to “Runaway Love,” offered some pointers to his younger peer.
“Basically he was just talking about going out the box and doing things that are different, but making it cool,” he explained. “He’s like, ‘I wanna just make you cool.’ He wants to do records that people wouldn’t necessarily think that I would do. Kanye’s a really smart guy.”
Bieber also opened up about his friendship with Lil Wayne, who recently called him at 4:30 a.m. to go skating. “He’s into skating. It’s his life,” he said.
“I like more street stuff, he does a lot of vert stuff. Vert is like ramps, street is like rails and kick flips.”
But don’t expect Weezy to appear on his album.
“He didn’t get the chance to work on the album. He’s been super busy and we just haven’t gotten a chance to connect in the studio. I was in the studio in Miami for a minute, but we never got the chance to do anything.”
Bieber has enlisted today’s top hitmakers including Drake, Diplo, Danja, Rodney Jerkins, Pharrell, Timbaland, Hit-Boy, and more for Believe, due June 19. Watch the video for his first single “Boyfriend.”
