Kanye West has shied away from the media as of late, but he made a surprise appearance alongside his Def Jam labelmate 2 Chainz on Monday’s “106 & Park.” Looking fresh to death in a cheetah-print jacket and the new Air Yeezy 2s, Mr. West did not say a single word, letting 2 Chainz do all the talking.

“I feel like Kanye is the best producer in the world,”

said the “Riot” rapper, who just collaborated with Yeezy on the G.O.O.D. Music single “Mercy.”

“The way that he sees things is just different from anyone else, so it’s just an honor to be in the studio with him at the same time and just kinda clashing worlds. My résumé is filled with street credibility music, trap rap, and he kind of brings color and images to what I’m doing, so he’ll definitely be a part of my project.”

Kanye will put his stamp on 2 Chainz’ Def Jam debut Based on a T.R.U. Story, due August 14.

“‘Ye will be the biggest part of my album,” he revealed. “I’m very comfortable having creative control and so with him, I will ask his opinion or offer him a chance to do some post production on some things that I think is trapped out, so he can add his vision to it.”
