Kanye West knows how to get people talking. After his run-in with a paparazzo on Friday, the G.O.O.D. Music mogul has declared his verse on “New Slaves” to be the greatest in the history of rap.
He took to Twitter on Saturday to make the bold statement.
“I open the debate… The 2nd verse of New Slaves is the best rap verse of all time….meaning … OF ALL TIME IN THE HISTORY OF RAP MUSIC, PERIOD,” tweeted ‘Ye.
His followers flooded Twitter with their responses, most in disagreement. Some called him downright crazy for making the assertion, while others shared their favorite Kanye verse.
Even some of his peers weighed in including the outspoken Azealia Banks, who claimed her song was better.
“YUNG RAPUNXEL >>>>,” tweeted the Harlem rapper.
Odd Future’s Earl Sweatshirt also chimed in with his thoughts.
“my mans kanye is fucking wild i dont agree but i fully back him and his mind,” he said.
While he reserved his opinion, Rico Love admired ‘Ye for his dedication to his art.
“Kanye only cares about being the greatest. Whether u agree w/the things he says or not u have to respect his passion. I Do #TTLO,” tweeted the producer.
Kanye’s album Yeezus is currently No. 6 on the Billboard 200, selling 29,000 copies last week.
