2013 is looking extra bright. Over six years since the release of his iconic album FutureSex/LoveSounds, Justin Timberake has announced his plans to return to music.
The now-married megastar released a video of him walking through the studio as he discusses his long-awaited comeback. “As close as I get to it, I don’t know that I could physically torture myself that much, year in and year out, and expect it to fulfill me the way that it does and the way that it is right now,” he says.
He is taking his time to make sure he’s happy with the material.
“I don’t want to put anything out that I feel like is something I don’t love. You just don’t get that every day. You have to wait for it.”
At the end, he enters the recording booth, puts on his headphones, and steps to the mic. “I’m ready,” he says.
There is also a countdown on his official website, which ends Sunday at midnight. Is a new single about to drop?
According to Billboard, Timberlake already has around 20 new songs recorded. There are reports that the first single features Jay-Z and was produced by his frequent collaborator Timbaland.
The super-producer also addressed the rumors on Twitter, writing,
“haha im laughin right now. i told y’all the storm is coming this year.”
Even Justin Bieber confirmed that he has heard Timberlake’s first new material since 2006.
“@jtimberlake @Timbaland i have heard some stuff. u got a good reason to be ready. #greatmusic,” he tweeted.
