Actress Jennifer Lopez is in talks with Will Smith‘s people to remake the 1987 film, Overboard.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Smith is producing the film with his Overbrook Entertainment partner James Lassiter.
The Columbia Pictures negotiations comes around the time J.Lo has a full plate. On April 23, the singer is starring in the romantic comedy The Back-Up Plan and is reportedly planning to drop an album this summer called Love? under a new label.
For Overboard, Lopez will take the lead role originally played by Goldie Hawn.
The Garry Marshall flick is about an heiress who falls off her yacht, wounds up with amnesia and is convinced she’s the wife of a man who needs a housekeeper.
The male role was originally played by Kurt Russell, and though the potential leading man hasn’t been announced yet, word on the street is Smith is planning to play Lopez’ partner.
Currently, Smith is working on the summer release of Karate Kid starring his son Jaden
