Jenny is going back to the block. The pop diva returned to her roots while shooting a video for her new single “Same Girl” over the weekend in her old neighborhood in the Bronx, New York.
In the clip, directed by Gomillion & Leupold (Fantasia, Tamar Braxton), J.Lo plays an around-the-way girl, sporting a Yankees cap, torn jeans, and hooded jacket as she hangs with her all-female crew.
“THANK YOU #myhood #CastleHill #Bronx #NYC #SAMEGIRL,” tweeted J.Lo, who posed with some fans from her hometown.
The song was reportedly produced in collaboration with Chris Brown. The two hit the studio in March to work on J.Lo’s upcoming 10th album.
“We were in the studio, writing songs and just getting that ‘Jenny From the Block’ flavor back,”
said J.Lo of her work with the “Fine China” singer.
In addition to Chris, she has collaborated with Future, Big Sean, Robin Thicke, Sia, and RedOne on the follow-up to 2011’s LOVE?
“It’s Jennifer Lopez, she’s done it all. From dance to urban records, so that’s what we’re doing,” said RedOne, who signed Lopez to his 2101 Records/Capitol Records imprint and is executive producing the project. “We’re doing an album that has everything. She’s an incredible A&R herself, so she loves music, she knows what she wants, and I’m just helping her to do that album.”
On January 16, J.Lo will make her return to “American Idol” alongside judges Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr.
