Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Drake lead the nominations for the BET Awards 2014.
The superstars each score five nominations at the 14th annual ceremony, it was announced today.
Queen Bey rules categories including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best Collaboration for “Drunk in Love,” and Video of the Year for the latter and “Partition.”
Her “On the Run” tourmate and husband Jay Z earns nominations for Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, and Video of the Year for “Drunk in Love.”
Drake, who led last year’s nominations, is nominated for Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration for “Hold On (We’re Going Home)” with Majid Jordan, and Best Group with Young Money.
Pharrell Williams continues his epic year, picking up four nods including Video of the Year for “Happy,” while R&B newcomer August Alsina racks up four nominations of his own.
“This year’s nominees represent the best of the culture,” said Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials. “It’s great to see our talented new artist’s right alongside our more beloved ones with long careers. We appreciate our BET Awards nomination committee, over 300 strong, for their efforts and congratulate all the nominees.”
The BET Awards 2014 will air live on Sunday, June 29, at 8 p.m. EST from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles.
