Fetty Wap has gone platinum again. The New Jersey rapper-singer’s 2015 self-titled debut has reached the RIAA certification marker for 1 million units sold, streamed, and downloaded.
The recognition follows immense success. In 2015, his “Trap Queen” single went quadruple-platinum and was the No. 1 most-streamed track on Spotify in the U.S. Elsewhere, “My Way” went platinum, and “679” went double plat. Additionally, Fetty Wap has exceeded 2 billion cumulative paid streams worldwide.
Currently, Wap is on his Monster-endorsed “Welcome to the Zoo” tour with Post Malone, Monty, and the Zoo Gang. He’s also planning his first European tour and gearing up to perform at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in England.
In a recent interview with Forbes, the Remy Boy spoke about his success.
“A lot of people think it was an overnight success,” he said. “But I’ve been pushing ‘Trap Queen’ for two years straight…I tell people all the time, if that’s overnight, that’s a long-ass night.”
Fetty is currently working on his sophomore album, which is reportedly due this year.
