Eve returned home to Philadelphia to shoot a mini-documentary for Reebok Classics and Complex. As the subject of the first film in the series, the hip-hop diva shared what it took for her to become a true “Classic.” Cameras followed E-V-E as she visited her old haunts on South Street, spoke to students at her former high school (Martin Luther King Jr.), and performed an intimate concert at Kung Fu Necktie in North Philly.
She reminisced about working with Gwen Stefani and her first album in a decade.
“I think my biggest thing about doing this record was bridging the gap between what people loved about me from the beginning with the Ruff Ryders to where I am now, the crossover records,” she said. “There’s enough on there for people who just want to hear me go hard and spit, and then there’s the radio-friendly records.”
Ride out with Eve in the documentary, which features commentary from Swizz Beatz as well as Eve’s mother and cousin.
