Drake is making some changes to his “Summer Sixteen Tour” itinerary.
A day after nearly surprising students at Drake University, the OVO boss announced that he’s postponing three tour dates in Toronto, Philadelphia, and Newark due to a persistent ankle injury.
“WE ARE OVER 50 SHOWS IN AND I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING TO POWER THROUGH MY RECENT ANKLE INJURY AND LEAVE IT ALL OUT THERE ON THE STAGE EVERY NIGHT,” he wrote in an open letter on his OVO blog. “I HATE TO BE TOLD I CAN’T DO SOMETHING, BUT UNDER DOCTOR’S ORDERS TO ALLOW ME TIME TO RECUPERATE, I AM BEING FORCED TO POSTPONE THE INTENSE THREE SHOWS IN A ROW IN CITIES WHICH AVE ONLY EVER SHOWN ME UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT.”
The 6 God went on to add that he’s “crushed” by the news. “I FEEL LIKE I AM LETTING MY FANS IN THESE CITIES DOWN,” he said. “I ONLY WANT TO GIVE YOU THE BEST SHOW YOU DESERVE, I PROMISE – I WILL MAKE IT UP TO YOU. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL AGAIN WITH NEW MUSIC AND A STRONGER ANKLE.”
Drizzy says more shows were set to be postponed, but he’s fighting through doctor’s orders to make them happen regardless.
“I WAS ASKED TO POSTPONE BOTH NEWARK SHOWS,” he wrote. “BUT I HAVE YET TO PERFORM THERE AND SO WE COMPROMISED AT ONE.”
According to Ticketmaster, Drake is set to continue his “Summer Sixteen” run with Future tonight at Chicago’s United Center. From there, the duo is headed to Montreal, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Newark for the trek’s finale.
