Round 1. The student (Drake) went head-to-head with the teacher (Lil Wayne) on opening night of the “Drake Vs. Lil Wayne” tour, which kicked off in Buffalo, New York, on Friday. The YMCMB all-stars brought their battle to the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in a video game-inspired showdown.

Following an opening set from Yo Gotti, the two-hour-plus extravaganza opened with a Street Fighter-inspired video, which set the stage for the battle royale (via MTV News), designed by video game maker Capcom.

Fans logged in to the “Drake Vs. Lil Wayne” tour app to decide who went first, and Weezy won. The New Orleans rapper launched his set with “Blunt Blowin,” “John,” and “Steady Mobbin’.”

Drake returned with “Draft Day,” “We Made It,” and “The Language.”

They went back and forth with their biggest hits. At one point, Wayne told the former Degrassi star,

“You was still in a wheelchair when I was making hits.”

Drizzy hovered above the crowd while singing “Marvins Room,” but Weezy wasn’t impressed with his vocal chops. He was so bored that he went backstage, took a shower, and returned in a bathrobe.

After an exhaustive duel, fans were instructed to use the app to vote for a winner. Tunechi claimed victory and celebrated the moment on Twitter.

“Buffalo!! Thanx for the viktory!!!!! u were fxxkin amazinggggggg!!!!!! Dat sh!t was stuuuuuuuupid! Love y’all!” he tweeted.

Drizzy humbly accepted defeat and both rappers came together to perform their collaborations including “The Motto,” “Believe Me,” “HYFR,” and the first performance of Wayne’sCarter V single “Grindin.”

You can catch the hip-hop heavyweights battling it out incities across the U.S. through September 27.
