Remember Jermaine Dupri? If not, you’ve probably never been to the roller rink.

Dupri’s hasn’t topped the charts in a few years, but he’s pulled out all the stops for the reunion concert performance scheduled for February 23rd in Atlanta’s Fox Theatre. In a press conference yesterday, Dupri announced the 20th Anniversary performance; later, he dropped the “Celebration (Remix)” united members of the So So Def line-up along with recent Dupri signee Fresco Kane.

Founded in the wake of Jermaine Dupri’s multi-platinum success producing Kris Kross (recently reunited), So So Def became one of Atlanta’s pioneering urban music labels in the mid-1990s, releasing records by Jagged Edge, Xscape, Da Brat and Lil’ Bow Wow; he also released three So So Def Bass All-Stars compilations, three must-hear records that comprehensively documented Atlanta’s bass scene, from the Ghost Town DJ’s to solo cuts by Belle Biv Devoe’s Ricky Bell.

In the early 2000s, Dupri released records by gritty southern songwriter Anthony Hamliton, including the critically-acclaimed Comin’ From Where I’m From, and by the mid-2000s he was on top of the burgeoning snap music moment, dropping records by Dem Franchize Boyz. That’s to say nothing of his own solo records, rap smashes from J-Kwon, and LPs from gangster rap vets like Daz Dillinger.
