Billboard magazine has crowned Lil Wayne as the top R&B/Hip-Hop artist of the year. His album Tha Carter IV debuting at #1, selling nearly a million copies in one week alone before going on to nab double platinum status are just a few of the reasons why the Young Money CEO had an incredible year.
He also had four singles hit the top of the charts and performed 69 shows during the year that raked in a total gross of $46,300,000.
Now not only did Lil Wayne win the top spot, but another Young Money artist came in second place, too. Nicki Minaj is #2 on Billboard‘s list of 2011’s top artists, but came out on top for Top Rap Artist, beating Lil Wayne, Drake, and Kanye West and being the first female to be #1 since Missy Elliott in 2000.
