Beyoncé knows how to put on a show, whether it’s at the Super Bowl or an elementary school function. After premiering “Formation” and its video amidst some controversy last month, Queen Bey is back in the headlines thanks to a gala where she performed Whitney Houston’s iconic “I Will Always Love You.”
This isn’t the first time ‘Yoncé has performed the track (she covered it nightly during “The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour”), but this rendition was special for the Center for Early Education’s 75th Anniversary Gala at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Saturday (March 5).
Bey’s version of the cut was part of a longer set. During her time onstage, Sasha Fierce also ran through “Crazy in Love” and “XO.”
Bey and Jay Z’s four-year-old daughter Blue Ivy is reportedly enrolled at the Center for Early Education. The school’s mission statement describes itself as
“a socio-economically and culturally diverse independent school for children, toddlers through grade six,” noting that it “strives to graduate students who are joyful, resilient, life-long learners.”
Up next, Bey will bring her live show to arenas during her “Formation World Tour,” which is set to begin April 27 in Miami. The tour itinerary can be found here.
