Ariana Grande kicked off the 2013 American Music Awards on a high note. Dressed in a shimmering red gown, the pint-sized diva showed off her powerful pipes while performing a Motown-inspired rendition of her song “Tattooed Heart” off her debut Yours Truly.

She breathed a sigh of relief when it was done.

“That was the most nerve wracking thing ever and I haven’t had access to my phone all day but hi y’allllll love u I’m so nervous!” tweeted Ariana, who later scored the award for New Artist of the Year.

She received rave reviews from Naya Rivera and Aubrey O’Day.

“Ariana Grande is on stage killing all the gimmicks,” tweeted the Danity Kane singer.

On Tuesday, Ariana will release her second Christmas single “Love Is Everything.” She previewed it for her fans on Instagram.
