Nas’ 2016 takeover continues with The Land, a new star-studded film that he’s executive producing.
The official trailer for the flick has arrived starring Erykah Badu and Machine Gun Kelly. Directed by Steven Caple Jr., the movie also stars Jorge Lendeborg Jr. as Cisco, and includes performances by established actors Michael Kenneth Williams (“The Wire,” “Boardwalk Empire”) and Natalie Martinez (End of Watch, Death Race).
Centered around molly use and distribution in Cleveland—hence, the name—the movie also explores friendships, poverty, dreams, and aspirations. It’s slated to arrive in theaters on July 29.
Executive producer Esco will also lend some new music to the film, along with Badu, MGK, French Montana, Pusha T, Jeremih, and others.
Earlier this year, Nas teamed up with another film, Ghostbusters, for a clothing collection. He’s also collaborated with J Dilla (“The Sickness”), The Weeknd (“Tell Your Friends (Remix)”), and more.
In fact, one of those new cuts, Nas’ French and Kanye West collaboration “Figure It Out” off Wave Gods, also acts as the soundtrack for a portion of The Land’s trailer, which can be viewed below.
