What a time to be alive. Fresh off the release of his fourth studio album Views, Drake toasted its success at a launch party in Toronto.
According to Drizzy, the album—which hit iTunes on Thursday night—has already done massive numbers in the first night alone.
“I got a text message that we sold like 630,000 something records in one night,” he announced to the hometown crowd. “That’s the first time I’ve ever done that shit.”
Views, which features Rihanna, Future, and PARTYNEXTDOOR, will remain an iTunes/Apple Music exclusive for one week before hitting other digital platforms.
Another Canadian superstar, Justin Bieber, was also on hand to celebrate with Drizzy. Bieber showed his support for Views—and debuted his newly-shaved head—at the rapper’s launch party and with his review of the album on Instagram.
“Spending the day listening to #views,” he wrote. “congrats drake you did it again…if you haven’t got it yet go download #views”
Drake returned the love. “Make some noise for Bieber one time. That’s my guy,” he told the crowd before embracing the “Sorry” singer.
That wasn’t all for Bieber. He also used Drake’s Views meme generator to edit one of his own selfies. In that pic, a tiny Drizzy is seen sitting on the Biebs’ shoulder.
Just because Drake is in album mode doesn’t mean he’s ignoring his duties as Toronto Raptors Global Ambassador. On Friday (Apr. 29), the 6 God showed up to Jurassic Park to perform a portion of “Energy,” pump the crowd up for the Raptors’ playoff game against the Indiana Pacers, and to celebrate T-Dot.
“I love everybody in this city,” he said. “I love this city. I’ll die for this city.”
Despite his positive vibes, the Raps lost to the Pacers in Game 6 of their first round playoff series. The winner of the next game, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow, will move on to the next round.
