Jhené Aiko is feeling the Bern. Fresh off the release of TWENTY88’s short film for “Out of Love,” Jhené Aiko performed at presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders’ “Community Conversation” event at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.
For this performance, the R&B songstress delivered rousing renditions from her catalog. Backed by a piano, Aiko performed a stunning version of “Space Jam” with emotional vibes.
That wasn’t all, of course. Sporting a navy blue pantsuit, Jhené also got lost in the whirlwind of “W.A.Y.S.”
She definitely had the crowd with her during her stripped-down set. When she launched into “Eternal Sunshine,” for instance, audience members clapped along.
Like many celebrities, including Killer Mike, Bun B, Lil B, and Scarface, Jhené is a proud Bernie supporter. She shared a photo of herself hugging Sanders and used the #BernieInHarlem and #FeelTheBern hashtags to urge her fans to vote.
Plus, she and her girlfriends started a different hashtag in support of the Sanders campaign: #babesforbernie2016
The “Community Conversation” panel discussion also featured appearances from Spike Lee, Harry Belafonte, Erica Garner, and Nina Turner, with host Charlamagne Tha God.
