Meek Mill won’t be going to jail, but he won’t be free either. On Friday (Feb. 5), a judge ruled that the Philadelphia rapper must serve three months of house arrest for violating his parole.
According to TMZ, the 28-year-old MC is set to serve a minimum of 90 days, and he will be unable to rap, perform, or release new music during that time (meaning no more Drake diss tracks). Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley also ordered an additional six years of probation, reports FOX 29.
Meek has been on probation for a 2009 drug and gun conviction. He violated his parole with unapproved travel and a failed urine test.
Nicki Minaj, who testified on her boyfriend’s behalf in December, reportedly met with Meek and the judge today to discuss his upcoming charity work.
Meek is due to turn himself in by March 1 and a judge will reevaluate the case 90 days later.
Prior to his sentencing, the MMG signee released the first two parts of his 4/4 EP series, and announced that he had enrolled in college because
“being educated makes you money and I like making money and taking care of my family.”
