Dreezy is a Chicago MC with a penchant for gritty, well-observed realism with a heavy dose of attitude. After dropping a couple mixtapes and a remix to “Chiraq,” the 21-year-old inked a deal with Interscope Records and has collaborated with fellow Chicago natives Common and Lil Durk.
Now she shares a new five-song project entitled Call It What You Want. The first song of the set, “Real,” describes her experience with newfound fame and the betrayal it brings. Other songs feature heavy-hitters like K Camp and Teyana Taylor, on a mixture of hard-edged rap songs and more emotive ballads.
On “Ain’t Rocking With You,” Atlanta mainstay Southside mixes street-wise production with R&B elements, while Dreezy shows off her vocal range. She’s equally effective as a rapper and singer—expect big things from her this year.
