Pitbull is trying on a new hat. The Miami rapper will take over hosting duties for the 2013 American Music Awards.
He will serve as the show’s first host since 2008 and also perform his new single “Timber” featuring Ke$ha. The song appears on his upcoming album Global Warming: Meltdown, due. Nov. 25.
“I am truly honored to be hosting the 2013 American Music Awards,” said Pitbull. “The night is only about one thing fun! So buckle and get ready. Dále!”
He joins previously announced performers Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar, Miley Cyrus, Florida Georgia Line, Imagine Dragons, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and One Direction. Additional acts and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.
The AMAs will broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. Live on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 8 p.m. on ABC.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the nominations for this year’s show in six categories.
