Rick Ross Apologizes For “Lyric Interpreted as Rape”

Rick Ross landed in hot water after his suggestive lyrics about rape on “U.O.E.N.O.” In the wake of the controversy, the Maybach Music mogul has issued an apology to the public and his business partners.

On Rocko’s Gift of Gab 2 mixtape cut “U.O.E.N.O.,” Rozay talks about slipping a molly in a woman’s drink and taking her home.

“Put molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it/ I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it,” he raps.

After facing pressure from the public, sponsors, and activists, he took to Twitter to apologize.

“I dont condone rape.Apologies for the #lyric interpreted as rape. #BOSS,” he tweeted.

He also tweeted an apology to his sponsors including Reebok.

“Apologies to my many business partners,who would never promote violence against women. @ReebokClassics @ultraviolet.”

During a visit to New Orleans radio station Q93 last month, he denied that the lyrics were implying date rape.

“I want to make sure this is clear that woman is the most precious gift known to man,” said the 37-year-old rapper. “It was a misunderstanding with a lyric, a misinterpretation where the term rape wasn’t used.”

UltraViolet has called for Reebok to drop Ross as its spokesman. The women’s rights organization plans to deliver their “Drop Rick Ross” petition to Reebok’s flagship store in New York City today.

“We appreciate that you don’t condone rape but what’s upsetting is that you’re rapping about it & don’t know it,” they told Ross. “Slipping a woman a drug and ‘enjoying’ her is rape. #CONSENT #EndRapeCulture.”
