Keri Hilson is ready to leave the past behind and move on. The R&B diva is calling for an end to the years of criticism she has endured.
The “Pretty Girl Rock” singer has been the target of insultssince 2009 when she recorded a remix to her single “Turnin’ Me On.” The song sparked controversy for its suggestive lyrics.
“Your vision cloudy if you think that you the best/ You can dance, she can sing, but need to move it to the left,” she sings.
Immediately, listeners started speculating that Keri was dissing Beyoncé or Ciara, which she denied.
“miss me with the drama,” Miss Keri tweeted on Monday, provoking some to interpret her words as shade. But instead of ignoring them this time, she pleaded for her haters to leave her alone.
“It’s TOO much!! Please! Is everything I tweet gonna be ‘intentionally misinterpreted’ as a statement abt someone/drama I know nothing about?” she said.
A vulnerable Keri admitted that she has been hurt by the hate.
“You have no idea what your hateful words could do to someone’s spirit. Years of verbal abuse from strangers all day long. Enough is enough!” she declared.
“I’m here for MY FANS! I’m stronger than you imagine, but waking up/goin to bed to your ugliness is just TOO MUCH, kids. I get it, ok? You can stop now.”
She continued,
“As far as WHATEVER ur really mad about, I had my reasons. It’s been yrs! Just chalk it up to your ignorance of my reality and LET…IT…GO. As for my mistakes, God has dealt with me.”
But she won’t let her haters keep her down.
“I’m at peace. I’m fine. I’m fulfilled. Truly happy. Grateful. Ready. Stepping back in. The best is yet to come…..don’t balee me juh watch!”
Keri has been in the studio with Timbaland and Polow Da Don working on her third album, due this year.
