Big Sean has come a long way. Six years ago he was an unsigned rapper hoping to score a record deal. But last night, he went from rapping in front of Kanye West to rapping with Kanye West.
The Detroit MC was joined by his mentor at New York’s Irving Plaza as he celebrated his G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam debut Finally Famous. During the hour-long set, a shirtless Sean performed singles “My Last” and “I Do It,” bringing along special guests Pusha T (“My God”) and Yeezy himself.
“Ya’ll make some noise for the motherfu**ing legend Kanye West,” said Sean.
After their performance of “Marvin & Chardonnay,” Kanye praised his protégé. “This reminds me of when we did The College Dropout and I just really appreciate all ya’ll coming out here and supporting Big Sean at the start of a brand new movement, Finally Famous, G.O.O.D. Music,” he told the crowd. “It’s just so amazing for me to see this man make it to this level right here. So I just want to thank ya’ll for supporting G.O.O.D. Music.”
