Country singer/songwriter Shania Twain says she is losing her voice. The Country Music Award winner has been diagnosed with a condition named Dysphonia, which affects her ability to produce voice sounds.
In an interview with E! Online, Twain revealed that after years of suppressing her emotions and voice has damaged her vocal cords. She explained:
“I had reached a point in my life where there was a bottleneck, physically, in my throat. Something had to give. I’ve only just discovered what’s wrong. Next comes rehabilitation, which will take a long time. Physical rehabilitation, voice therapy, learning how to breath again…and the singing will come.”
The 45-year-old began to suffer from the voice altering condition since she discovered that her best friend Marie-Anne Thiébaud was having improper relations with her now ex-husband, Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange.
During the interview, Shania disclosed how her divorce affected her:
“During the course of my divorce, I dug a big hole and stopped growing and searching and had given up. I realized I had to climb back out…You can only help yourself. Others can support you. Just asking myself what I was going to do helped make a place for optimism. You start to isolate yourself in your own misery.”
Now, she says she’s on the road to recovery when it comes to her voice.
“I’ve only just discovered what’s wrong,” she said. “Next comes rehabilitation, which will take a long time. Physical rehabilitation, voice therapy, learning how to breath again … and the singing will come.”
