For BET’s annual Hip-Hop Awards Cypher, Ice Cube and his sons were pit against Rev Run and his seeds. Cube retreated to his blog last week and reflected on the moment. Ceremony airs October 12th.

Last night I stood on a roof in Brooklyn wit my 2 sons (OMG & Doughboy) and the “King of Rock” Rev. Run wit his 2 sons (Diggy & Jo Jo) and we did the BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher. We killed it.

Me and Run had 16 bars and our boys had 8 bars a piece. We had DJ Premier on the wheels and it was a beautiful night.

Ya’ll don’t understand. I was a straight fan last night. I grew up on Run-DMC and having a chance to do a cypher wit the legendary DJ Run was a bucket list moment for ya’ boy. It was all love of course and we talked about a line he said in ’83 that set it all off, “If you say you heard my rhymes we’re gonna have to fight, Cause I just made the mothafuckas up last night!” Now that’s hip-hop.
