The Broad Street Bully is back. After getting shot in 2014 and subsequently having a lung removed, Beanie Sigel unleashes his latest solo track, “Top Shotta” (via Genius).
Backed by Jahlil Beats’ hard-hitting production, Sigel delivers grimy street bars on the track, warning adversaries that “deers belong in the woods, and not in the jungle.”
In his rhymes, Beans also says that he would have been The Lox’s fourth member had he not signed with Jay Z’s Roc-A-Fella, an interesting tidbit given his past beef with Jadakiss.
Listeners will hear that Beanie’s vocals have been affected by health issues following 2014’s shooting. Fans heard this same impact on Sigel’s “Keep Dealing” verse off Pusha T’s December release Darkest Before Dawn.
“This my new voice,” Beanie told Rap Radar when talking about his Pusha T collab. “Y’all gotta get used to it. Since the accident, my voice got raspy.”
