With just three days to go until the premiere of his HBO special “Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming,” J. Cole debuts the fourth and final episode of his “Road to Homecoming” documentary series. The 28-minute clip, entitled “Buses, Vans, and Trains,” finds Cole getting ready for Act III of his “Forest Hills Drive Tour.”

We see the construction of the set, which was inspired by a Yale School of Drama production of the Norwegian play, The Master Builder, meet the visual production team, and watch Cole give his input.

“Them big ass Kanye moments where he’s just in front of a wall for the whole show, and then he’s silhouetted. I didn’t want that,” says Cole, who designed the stage to look like his childhood home.

There are cameos from his tourmates Jeremih, YG, and Big Sean, as well as Pusha T. Cole also sets up a studio backstage and records a track five minutes before hitting the stage. The episode wraps at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, a venue Cole one day dreamed of playing. He meets up backstage with his former landlord Mohammad, who couldn’t be more proud. Cole soaks up the emotional moment onstage and sheds “thug tears” backstage.

“Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming” premieres Saturday, Jan. 9, on HBO.
