Diggy Simmons had the Internet all fired up when his J. Cole diss track “What You Say to Me” leaked over the weekend. Now the 17-year-old rapper is speaking out about the controversial record for the first time.

Diggy called out the Roc Nation star after he subliminally rapped about having relations with Diggy’s older sister Vanessa on his 2010 song “Purple Rain.” Vanessa attended college with J. Cole at St. John’s University.

“A little over a year ago, my sister told me he was saying he did this, that, and the third with her ’cause they went to the same college, but they didn’t even really know each other so it wasn’t like that,” Diggy told the Inland Empire’s 99.1 KGGI.

Diggy said there’s no truth to Cole’s claims and felt compelled to defend his sister’s honor.

“It was just me sticking up for my family,” he explained.

The “Do It Like You” rapper, whose debut album Unexpected Arrival was released last month, was at the movies when he was informed that the song had leaked. “I didn’t leak it,” he said.

He originally recorded “What You Say to Me” in February 2011, but decided against releasing it.

“I was gonna put it out, but I didn’t feel like it was appropriate.”

His father Rev Run supported his decision to stick up for his sister.

“He already heard the track. He’s like, ‘Family over everything. That’s your sister.’ He wasn’t mad about it at all.”

And what if Cole responds? “I don’t really care,” added Diggy. “That’s not my focus.”
