Chicago rapper Common has been known for his activism in the community. He is continuing his work with a month long speaking tour with other notable names for the AT&T 28 Days Speaker Series.

According to AT&T’s website, Common will host the series and make stops in five cities with five different dynamic individuals.

“The AT&T 28 Days speaker series highlights five of today’s African American innovators who are making their own page in history. The speaker series is intended to inspire, motivate and challenge consumers to rethink what they can achieve in their lives.”

The Grammy award winning hip hop artist’s first date is February 7 at the Atlanta Symphony Hall with Mario Armstrong. On February 17, Common will head to his hometown of Chicago, to speak with activist and writer Kevin Powell at The Field Museum. Next, he will then travel to Howard University in Washington DC on Tuesday, February 22nd to speak with Tai Beauchamp.

New York’s famous Apollo Theater will serve as the venue for an engaging conversation between the rapper and Daymond John, founder of Hip-Hop clothing line, FUBU. This event will take place on February 24, 2011. Common will end the speaking tour in Oakland, California on February 28.
