It was a family affair as Alicia Keys hosted Keep a Child Alive’s Black Ball Redux at the famed Apollo Theater in New York on Thursday night. The fundraising gala, which assists those affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India, was rescheduled from last month due to Hurricane Sandy.

The “Girl on Fire” was joined by her mother Terri Augello, husband Swizz Beatz, brother Cole Cook, and Swizz’ brother Andre King as she honored Oprah Winfrey for her philanthropic efforts.

“It’s a universal truth, Oprah makes change happen,” Alicia told the AP, while Oprah addressed her onstage. “You try to keep a child alive and I try to educate them as best as I can,” she said.

The Keep a Child Alive founder dueted with blues singer Bonnie Raitt on “I Just Can’t Make You Love Me.” Jennifer Hudson and Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes also performed, while Whoopi Goldberg played emcee.

“Ok! 2night was just outrageous!!!” tweeted Alicia, who raised $1.3 million by the end of the evening.
