Jay-Z is powerful enough to dine with President Obama at the White House, but still cool enough to headline hipster festivals. Hov played the Isle of Wight Festival in the U.K. on Friday (June 11), surprising concertgoers by bringing out Kanye West for “Run This Town” (video below). He then jetted back to the U.S. on his G5 to perform at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. Like Coachella, his beautiful wife Beyoncé was by his side, singing from the sidelines.
Jay recently told Rolling Stone that he is inspired by indie bands like Grizzly Bear and Yeasayer.
“I love the energy coming out of indie rock right now,” he said. “It has this rebellion thing that hip-hop is missing now, the thing that made hip-hop hip-hop.”
