Trevor Jackson is “Unpacking” a new visual. After dropping Rough Drafts, Pt. 1, the “grown-ish” star delivers the video for his latest single.

The self-directed clip allows the 21-year-old heartthrob to show off his many different talents. Aside from singing and directing, Jackson showcases his dancing skills in a train yard. Later, he even breaks out an electric guitar for a show-stopping solo.

“The best way to describe the song concept for ‘Unpacking’ is like running on a treadmill, it gives you something to do, but gets you nowhere,” Trevor tells Rap-Up. “Some relationships we get into because it’s comfortable not because it’s necessarily good for us. It’s like you love them, but there is no room for growth and it ends up becoming a stagnant never-ending cycle. I was shooting SuperFly when I used one of my very few days off to direct two videos in one day. ‘Unpacking’ is one of the videos from that day, which I ended up editing while I was on tour with Justine Skye.”

In between dancing, singing, and playing, the soulful crooner also brings “Unpacking” to life. While the song is all about the back-and-forth of a trying relationship, the video depicts arguments in the bedroom with his furious and frustrated girlfriend.

Jackson, who recently wrapped his tour with Justine Skye, spoke with Rap-Up about his latest project.

“It’s called Rough Drafts because I feel like, especially in [this] day and age, everybody is trying to be perfect,” he said. “They’re trying to emulate something on social media. Everybody wants the finished product. They see other people doing well and want to skip a few steps.”
