Beyoncé and JAY-Z will Headline a Hurricane Benefit Concert in Brooklyn

The Carters are giving back.

After delivering a powerful message at the “Hand in Hand” telethon, Beyoncé and JAY-Z will headline a hurricane benefit concert, which is slated to take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Oct. 17.

Us Weekly reports that several Roc Nation artists are also expected to appear at the event, which will benefit those who were affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. The date for this year’s show seems to coincide with the annual philanthropic TIDAL X concert, which was headlined by Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, and Lauryn Hill last year.

Queen Bey delivered a call to action for donors during the “Hand in Hand” telethon earlier this month.

“The effects of climate change are playing out around the world every day,” she said. “Natural disasters don’t discriminate. They don’t see if you’re an immigrant, black or white, Hispanic or Asian, Jewish or Muslim, wealthy or poor. It doesn’t matter if you’re from Third Ward or River Oaks, we’re all in this together.”

JAY, who is set to launch his “4:44 Tour” with Vic Mensa on Oct. 27, has recently been in the headlines for reportedly rejecting an offer to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show next year. The NFL responded to the rumors with a statement (via Complex).

“No decisions have been made on the performer(s) and we are not going to speculate on particular artists,” said a spokesperson for the league. “Along with Pepsi, we know that we will put on a spectacular show. When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names.”
